Gloucester (willed to me by the late Richard RUSSELL of Newnham, Innkeeper), the principal to be laid out to best advantage by my Trustees;   also to wife Jane - the Tithe of 3 fields of approx 4ac. lying in the top of Peterchurch Field (now the property of William HANCORN), and after Jane's death equally between my son William GARRETT and my daughter Ann SIMKINS for life and then half of the principal to Ann's ch'n and half (plus the Tithe) equally between William's 2 daughters a/n. Proved London PCC 23 Apr 1856 after William HOWARD of Peterchurch, carpenter  swore 11 Apr 1856 he'd witnessed the Will's signing. Admon granted to  William DAVIES, surviving Legatee. Notes: Thomas GARRETT was baptised 5 Aug 1774 at Peterchurch and was described as "Ag Lab" in 1841 aged 66; in 1851 he was aged 78, an Annuitant, living with his son William at Castle Cwm, Peterchurch. He mar Jane WEAVER (b. Garway) on 8 Aug 1800 at Peterchurch by Licence; their son William was b. 2 Feb 1804 & bap 20 Mar 1804. William GARRETT was a Farmer in 1851 & 1861; he and his wife Celia had 2 daughters - Ann b. c1845 in St Margarets and Jane b. c1848 in Abbeydore. [Contributed by - on 20 Apr 2005 et seq.]
